THE HISTORY OF THE FOUNDATION BEGAN IN 2000
The origins of the Fondazione Epatocentro Ticino go back to the year 2000 when we conducted the first studies at the Ospedale Civico in Lugano and subsequently in a Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) established at the Clinica Luganese Moncucco where, since 2007, research activities in the field of liver diseases have been carried out.
DEDICATED TO RESEARCH
The development of new therapeutic opportunities and the collection of epidemiological data in collaboration with other centers are the areas on which the Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) focuses. Annual founding, the number of studies and publications as well as the study team have grown significantly over the years and is destined to expand further.
THE CLINICAL TRIAL UNIT BECOMES PART OF THE EPATOCENTRO TICINO FOUNDATION
In July 2013, the Fondazione Epatocentro Ticino was established, which, dedicated to research, continuing education and public awareness in the field of liver diseases. It extends the scope of the clinically oriented Epatocentro Ticino from 2013 onwards. This was an important step, enabling many patients to have access to the latest generation of diagnostic tools and therapies even before they entered the market, considerably reducing the costs of these treatments and, at the same time, saving many lives.
